The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Governance Coordinator for the banking sector, to oversee the implementation and management of data governance strategies across the organization. You will play a crucial role in coordinating activities, ensuring alignment with shared objectives, and driving the effective governance of critical data elements.

Your Responsibilities
  • Operationalize data governance strategies and coordinate activities across the business to ensure effective implementation.
  • Ensure business data stewards complete assigned tasks and understand shared objectives with the Data Office.
  • Identify critical data elements governed by the data governance policy and prioritize them based on strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and financial implications.
  • Oversee the management of the data domain on the data catalog, including the discovery and inputting of metadata such as data owners, data domain mapping, and data definitions.
  • Leverage a data catalog tool to support the business in identifying critical data usage, managing metadata input, and guiding data stewards in effectively utilizing the tool for task completion.
  • Identify and prioritize remediation actions to meet defined data quality standards set by data users.
  • Identify and manage training needs across different units within the organization, including training for data stewards and data management resources.
  • Allocate tasks to the branch network and monitor the progress of branches in data governance activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from branches, risk, finance, and ITSD to develop strategic remediation plans to address data issues.
  • Work with data engineers in the data office to define data quality metrics, as agreed with data owners, and manage the presentation of metrics to enable effective data control by data owners.
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in a data management/governance environment for more than 4 years.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders across your organization.
  • Good knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (azure preferred).
  • Experience with Python and data-related libraries.
  • Good knowledge of CLI environments such as bash or PowerShell.
