About the role
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical design and development of key client projects from our Munich office. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the full-stack software and system architecture, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality digital products. You will serve as a key technical authority within the company, collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Analyse client business requirements and design scalable, reliable, and secure end-to-end software solutions, with a primary focus on the .NET framework and Microsoft Azure platform or any other cloud platform.
- Technical Governance: Provide expert guidance and solve the most complex technical challenges for multiple development teams across the full technology stack, from frontend to backend.
- Pre-Sales & Solutioning: Partner with the sales team to develop technical concepts, proposals, and effort estimations during the pre-sales cycle.
- Client Engagement: Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients, effectively communicating architectural decisions, and translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Mentorship: Coach and mentor senior and junior engineers, promoting best practices in software development, security, and cloud architecture.
- Technology Strategy: Identify and evaluate emerging technology trends, contributing to strategic decisions that shape the company's technical direction.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Significant professional experience in software engineering, with a demonstrable history of designing complex software architectures.
- Deep expertise in backend development using the .NET ecosystem (C#, .NETCore/6+, ASP.NET).
- Frontend Proficiency: Good command of modern frontend development, with expertise in at least one major JavaScript UI framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Strong, practical experience with Microsoft Azure services, including compute, database, security, and container services (AKS).
- Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and database schemas.
- Solid knowledge of system architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with software security best practices and identity management solutions (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Azure AD).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Full professional fluency in both German and English (written and spoken).
